CHARITY AUCTION: FINE SPIRITS AUCTION AUCTION OFF SOME EXCEPTIONAL LOTS IN AID OF THE GOODPLANET FOUNDATION AND THE PRINCE ALBERT II OF MONACO FOUNDATION

After two consecutive years supporting the GoodPlanet Foundation by hosting their charity auction, the Fine Spirits Auction (FSA), an auction site for whiskies and spirits, will also be working alongside the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation - an organisation committed to protecting marine and terrestrial biodiversity - in this year’s sale. This remarkable event will be taking place at the Grande Halle of La Villette, where around thirty exclusive lots will be on display from 28th September to 4th October, coinciding with the Whisky Live Paris 2024.

Connoisseurs will be able to treat themselves to lots from unmissable brands and distilleries throughout the event, such as Armorik, Blanton's, Chichibu, Gordon & MacPhail, Macallan and Mars for whiskies. Côté Rhum, Caroni, Colours Of Rum, Hampden, LM&V,  Neisson, Planteray and even Silver Seal will be up for grabs, as well as bottles of Cognac and Calvados by Christian Drouin and Vallein Tercinier respectively. Portofino, Kilchoman, Alabat, Black Tot and Douglas Laing will make their debuts in this year’s collection.

All proceeds made at this charity auction will go towards supporting a project to create a protected area of preservation of the incredible biodiversity on Île Sainte-Marie Island, in the north-east of Madagascar. This project, coordinated locally by the NGO Gret and financed by both the GoodPlanet Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, encourages locals to take back decision-making power and control over the use and preservation of the land and its natural resources.

Subtitle: An exclusive weekend away at the Rothes Glen castle and the Artist range from the 2025 Foundations collection by La Maison du Whisky

Among the most striking lots in support of this project are the six remarkable whiskies from the Rothes Glen ARTIST range, paired with a weekend stay at the Rothes Glen castle - a popular holiday destination for lovers of whisky and the Scottish way of life. Located in the heart of the Speyside in Scotland, and built by engineer and architect Charles Doig (1855-1918), the castle will be available in its entirety for you and up to twenty-eight guests for a full weekend. This lot offers the rare chance to live like the owners of this incredible castle for the duration of the stay with 14 king-size, en-suite rooms. This lot’s bonus is a day of exploration and learning at the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail. Lastly, the new Artist range, which is included in this lot, showcases the works of painter Victor Ekpuk on its unique labels. A collection of six single malts distilled between 1991 and 2013 by iconic Scottish distilleries having benefited from Charles Doig’s developments: Laphroaig 2013, Aberlour 2008, Highland Park 2003, Glenburgie 1995, Longmorn 1994 and Macallan 1991. The value of this extraordinary lot is estimated to be worth 48,000€.

Subtitle: A range of whiskies from the Japanese distillery Chichibu

Another of this year's top lots, four single casks from the Japanese distillery CHICHIBU distilled between 2013 and 2016 and selected by La Maison du Whisky, will be on auction - alongside works of art featured on the labels of these bottlings in their original format (80x80cm). Designed by Kunihiko Moriguchi, a Japanese artist awarded the status of Living National Treasure, who excels in the tradition of the ceremonial kimono, these are not to be missed. Similar work by the artist has even been exhibited at the House of Culture of Japan in Paris, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Subtitle: The Scottish unobtainables

Two exceptional bottles from Scotland are among the must-have lots of the sale. The first is a rare and exclusive decanter from an incredible 1954 cask of Glen Grant, selected by Stuart Urquhart and donated by the trading house GORDON & MACPHAIL. This cask, which boasts incredible potential, will not be bottled for several years, making it even rarer. The second bottle donated by THE MACALLAN was taken from the Exceptional Casks range, exclusively made up of casks selected by the whisky maker Sarah Burgess and bottled without reduction. This particular one was distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2018 after 16 years of ageing in sherry hogshead cask #2340.

Subtile: Rum in large format

Côté Rhum, CARONI PARADISE presents three magnums: three blends each made from two Caroni Paradise from the 2025 Foundations collection. The first, a Caroni 1994 Guyana Heavy Trinidad Blend Paradise, is a blend of the two sister casks #7 and #8, which both underwent the same ageing process in the tropical climate of Trinidad and Tobago and then Guyana before continuing their maturation in dame-jeanne containers in the Cognac region. The second magnum of this lot, the Caroni 1996 Guyana Heavy Trinidad Blend Paradise, is made up of Paradise #6 and #9 from the 2025 Creations Catalogue and the third Caroni Trinidad Blend Paradise is made from bottlings #10 and #11 from the same range.

Another lot of three single casks, PLANTERAY, from the 2025 Foundations collection is up for grabs. All three in magnum size, the first is a Barbados 2004, the second a Fiji 2001 and the third a Clarendon MLC 2001 produced using double distillation. The three bottles have been aged in bourbon casks in a tropical climate before being matured in cognac casks in the cellars of Maison Ferrand, and have an ester content of between 189 and 490 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol.

SIGNED BOTTLES

Two prestigious lots have been donated by the organisations that this charity sale is being held for: a single cask GLENMORANGIE from the Monaco Yacht Club signed by H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco from his personal collection. This incredible bottle is being offered alongside a luxury breakfast at the Monaco Yacht Club. In addition to this, a rare magnum of VALLEIN TERCINIER cognac lot n°44 is also being auctioned off. Its label is illustrated by Yann Arthus Bertrand, the founder of the GoodPlanet Foundation and also included in the lot is a unique signed print of the work featured on the Carrelet bottle near Talmont, Charente-Maritime, France, signed by the photographer.

In 2023, the charity auction in aid of the GoodPlanet Foundation raised over 127,000€ in proceeds thanks to the 22 lots which had over 1,000 bids during the Whisky Live Paris 2023 and the days that followed. This amount has helped to support female entrepreneurship in Senegal, to install solar water pumps in Malawi and to support the development of agroecology in France.

About the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation
