Auction report - Mai 2024 auction

Some 900 lots went under the hammer at the 26th edition of Fine Spirits Auction. With a myriad of niche expressions available from bottlers across the world, enthusiasts and collectors were once again in for a treat. More than five bids were placed on each lot, with an outbidding rate of around 25%.

Rum dominated the auction with the presence of a huge array of European bottlers (Belgium, Germany, France, Italy). More than 50 bottles sold for above their high estimate, including:

- Jamaica 1990 Salon du Rhum Belgique: Hampden C<>H: €346

- Long Pond TECA 12 Years 2007 Velier: €292

- La Favorite Privilège for Lulu: €238

- Savanna Unshared Cask 714: €166

In whisky, limited editions of Yamazaki posted some excellent results:

- Yamazaki Limited Edition 2014: €774

- Yamazaki Limited Edition 2016: €560

Suntory generally did well too, with some great hammer prices and over 80% of high estimates reached on average.

In Scotland, Springbank’s popularity was still going strong, with official bottlings and independent bottlings both performing well. On average, bottles from the distillery fetched over 87% of their high estimates.

Finally, staying with the auction’s star billings, Chartreuse was way out in the lead, with just one bottling going unsold of the 35 under the hammer.
