Rothes Glen - Scotland’s most exclusive and luxurious whisky venue

Damian Riley-Smith - founder of the Whisky Magazine and Whisky Live - is also the owner of Rothes Glen, a luxury castle dedicated to exceptional whiskies and experiences. Located in the heart of Speyside, in Scotland, the castle was built in 1893 and designed by the distinguished whisky distillery architect, Charles Chree Doig, in the iconic baronial-style of the Scottish Highlands, with 14 bedrooms.

Each room has a king-sized bed and en-suite; the castle has a stunning drawing room and dining room, as well as a breakfast room, library, snooker room, tasting room, smoking room, whisky vault and an additional place for tasting in the tower, offering breathtaking views of the countryside to enjoy with your glass. Set in the heart of a gorgeous four-hectare estate including a small idyllic lake, outdoor terraces, heated kennels and sporting rooms.

Situated equidistant between Inverness and Aberdeen airports and rail stations, this iconic castle also has a helipad and is surrounded by some of the most prestigious distilleries in the country.

You and your guests will be taken care of by the castle manager and top-level team, with meals prepared by a renowned private chef. During your stay at Rothes Glen, dive into the rich heritage of Speyside as you explore the finest distilleries, where the art of whisky-making has been perfected. If you are searching for adventure, indulge in outdoor activities such as fishing, shooting or embarking on picturesque strolls through the breath-taking Scottish Highlands that surround the castle. Whether it be friends, family or a professional context, Rothes Glen is the ideal place to enjoy something a little out of the ordinary, thanks to the very best of Scottish hospitality.

This castle is one of the most luxurious properties in the country, having welcomed celebrities such as Sean Connery. It was also the former holiday home of British Prime Minister Herbert Henry Asquith in the early 20th century.

Multiple dates in February and March 2025 will be available to enjoy this unique experience.

Auction for a good cause

After the success of our previous two editions, Fine Spirits Auction has organised a charity auction to coincide with Whisky Live Paris 2024 in support of two foundations committed to protecting marine and terrestrial biodiversity: the GoodPlanet Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

The profits from this auction will go directly into supporting a project to create a protected area to preserve the remarkable biodiversity of the island of Sainte-Marie off the coast of  Madagascar. This project, coordinated locally by the NGO Gret, encourages local residents to reclaim control and decision-making power over the use and preservation of their land and its natural resources. It will ensure legal recognition of the protected area and its management under shared governance, with a mission to carry out actions designed to restore the ecosystems and improve the resilience of the most vulnerable communities through development of sustainable economic activities such as agroforestry and eco-tourism.
